Just steps away from pristine beaches, gourmet restaurants, and quaint shops lies Nantucket's iconic Veranda House. Originally built in 1684 as a secluded family residence, the home's three wraparound porches welcome incoming ferry passengers to the island and offer unrivaled shoreline views. Just as the structure was reinvented as an inn in 1882, I helped guide the Veranda House through another transformation in 2009. When the bed and breakfast re-opened its doors to guests on Memorial Day for the summer season, it showcased a hip, modern feel that represents a departure from the traditional Nantucket style.
