When approaching the renovation and design for this expansive project, the main requirement was that it suit the bustling lifestyle of a family of six (plus two dogs). Our clients expressed a desire for calm, serene spaces while also embracing pops of bright color and lively patterns. During an extensive renovation to create more modern spaces, Rachel Reider Interiors developed a neutral palette for the common areas to create a streamlined look and feel. In the family room, the custom gas fireplace and statement chandelier—set in a barrel ceiling—add visual drama. More vibrant hues and varied patterns were incorporated into secondary spaces such as the bathrooms, entryway, and playroom. In the latter, a bold rug and large-scale, 3-D piece of art are sure to spur creativity in its young inhabitants. But the true focal point of this home is the kitchen area. A massive set of folding glass doors was utilized to create the ultimate indoor-outdoor living space. The interior eat-in kitchen, accented with a stunning stone slab backsplash, blends seamlessly with its outdoor counterpart. With a fire pit, dining table, and multiple seating areas, the space is a welcome extension of the home for kids and adults alike.
